Electronic nurse device development
TCC, founded by medicine professionals, provides a state-of-the-art remote intensive care unit (ICU) solution for German hospitals to improve healthcare quality and reduce the load on intensive care specialists.
The challenge
After taking a closer look at the German healthcare system, TCC realized that there’s a strong need for automation of patient monitoring. Inpatient care puts an enormous load on medical workers, delaying the treatment process and patient turnover. To solve this problem, TCC decided to build an eNurse patient-tracking solution, starting with a fully functional MVP development.
Delivered value
TCC has successfully raised €20 million in Series A funding with the MVP we built. Lemberg Solutions’ engineers built a medical tablet prototype within three months, meeting the customer's tight deadlines. The MVP measures patients' vitals, including temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen level, and respiratory rate. The system automatically generates a measurements-based therapy and meal plan, increasing treatment efficiency.

The process
As the project was time-sensitive, our experts delivered the prototype before the deadline to ensure the client had enough time to test the product before demonstrating it to stakeholders.
We started by building an IoT prototype of the eNurse device based on the industrial design devised by our experts. Our developers then integrated third-party apps into the MVP that measure vitals, including temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen level, and respiratory rate. Our engineers also integrated voice control into the tablet using Windows Speech Recognition to ensure better accessibility.
At the same time, our designers and developers were working on the software part of the tablet. Our fundamental goal throughout the development process was to ensure the interface was easy to use and intuitive for older individuals.
The user interface we built includes:
- The main screen layout displaying vitals of a patient.
- Pages showing the results of vitals measurement.
- A page that shows a therapy plan with a calendar.
- A meal menu for the patients to choose their nutrition for the week.
- An emergency call button.
The latest version of the device also includes a temperature measurement simulation and a camera for face recognition, which will be replaced with an infrared one in the following iterations.
The recent investment TCC received paves the way for further development and refinement of the eNurse prototype we built. At this point, the TCC team is looking forward to strengthening its digital offerings and optimizing hospital processes to reduce the load on the healthcare system.
How it works
The journey with Lemberg Solutions, from product discovery to the real MVP, was very professional and fell within the specified timeline. The TCC team very much enjoyed working together with Lemberg Solutions as they had additional ideas to increase the performance and value of our MVP, and product management was outstanding. TCC is very proud of the final product.
